Design and manufacturing of a pilot plant for one of the most important companies worldwide in the Dairy Industry
For more than 40 years, at SACOME we have been supporting our clients to find the optimal solution for their projects. In this sense, we have extensive expertise in the design and manufacturing of pilot plants in which our clients often transfer different types of products. In fact, we have recently received a new order for the design and manufacturing of a pilot plant for one of the most important companies worldwide in the Dairy Industry
Pilot plants are characterized by transferring very small flows of different types of products. Therefore, the usual solution in this type of pilot plants are usually small diameter monotubular heat exchangers in series mounted on a common frame. When the number of units required is very high, it is necessary to find an optimal compromise solution to achieve a good product flow rate without excessively increasing the pressure drop obtained, since these can be a problem in this type of installation. In fact, it is also very important to take into account the CIP (Cleaning In Place) flow rate obtained as well as the CIP pressure drop since these could be even greater than the product.
In this project, this modular pilot plant has 88 monotube heat exchangers of 6-meter long mounted in series on a common frame. The model of heat exchanger used to manufacture this pilot plant has been our S-TF20-I sanitary heat exchanger. The client will process different types of cocktails, creams and yogurts with different temperature programs for each of them. All the requirements regarding food facilities have been taken into account during the design phase of the pilot plant. In addition, clamp connections have been considered on both sides to facilitate future inspections and maintenance works.
In short, this is another example that shows how SACOME adapts its solutions to the needs of our clients in order to find the optimal solution for each project.

The importance of rheology in the design of food plants
The importance of rheology in the design of any processing plant is crucial since the sizing of many of the elements composing it is very dependent on this “resistance”, also taking special relevance with food products: heat exchangers, pipes, valves, pumps, mixers, etc.
