Vacuum steam condenser within a line of jams
One of the major companies worldwide of Baby Food, Jams and Juices has commissioned SACOME to design and manufacture a vacuum steam condenser, within a line of jams. The objective has been to design a new condenser, which will fit into the existing space in the plant, as well as increasing the condensation capacity and exchange power by 30%.
With these challenges in mind, our technicians moved to our client’s facilities, and in addition of the checking the actual dimensions in situ, they were able to contrast the different calculation assumptions to be taken into account.
When carrying out the simulations of the new heat exchanger, our Technical Department took into account the characteristic variability of this type of applications, with different compositions of the vacuum steam (depending on the water steam and non-condensable content) and vacuum pressures. As always, the project has been carried out in close cooperation with the client.

The importance of rheology in the design of food plants
The importance of rheology in the design of any processing plant is crucial since the sizing of many of the elements composing it is very dependent on this “resistance”, also taking special relevance with food products: heat exchangers, pipes, valves, pumps, mixers, etc.
