Heat exchanger intended for water heating by means of thermal oil
A major engineering company in the water treatment sector has contacted SACOME to supply a heat exchanger intended for the heating of water by means of thermal oil for a power exchange capacity of 2 Megawatts.
The key feature of this process was the high content of particles and pieces of wood in suspension, which made the use of other types of heat exchangers, such as plate heat exchangers, infeasible from the outset. In addition, considering tubular heat exchangers, any configuration was not valid due to the high risk of obstructions.
After taking into account the percentage and size of the suspended solids, our engineers recommended the engineering company our I-TF20-I heat exchanger, a tube in tube heat exchanger from our Industrial Line.
Our Technical Department also had to take into account several considerations before the technical solution could be proposed. On the one hand, the high flow rate (more than 100 m3 / h); on the other hand, the pressure and temperature conditions (the latter 250 ºC). And finally, the different scenarios generated by the variability of the temperature of the thermal oil available, due to the boiler efficiency that the end customer had available.

The importance of rheology in the design of food plants
The importance of rheology in the design of any processing plant is crucial since the sizing of many of the elements composing it is very dependent on this “resistance”, also taking special relevance with food products: heat exchangers, pipes, valves, pumps, mixers, etc.
How to design a heat exchanger
To design a heat exchanger it is necessary to have certain data, such as the process flow rate, the temperature and the physical properties of products.
