There are projects in which the new equipment has to do more, fit into the same space and match an existing installation already in operation.

SACOME has received an order for the design and manufacture of a tubular heat exchanger intended to recover residual heat from a thermal oil stream for process water heating.

The aim of the project was to replace an existing exchanger while increasing the heat transfer surface to achieve a duty of 125 kW. At the same time, the new unit had to fit within the available space and maintain the relative position of the inlet and outlet flanges for both fluids, so that the modifications required on site could be kept to a minimum.

The solution developed is a removable U-tube multitubular heat exchanger, TEMA BEU type, designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME VIII Div. 1 and belonging to SACOME’s I-TFMU-D industrial heat exchanger range.

Thanks to the customised 3D design developed by SACOME’s technical department, the client can review the integration of the new unit in advance, detect possible interferences and plan the shutdown required for installation more accurately.

When working on an existing installation, the design has to resolve both the new service and its integration into a space and configuration that are already defined.

Replacement is part of the design too.
