Metal expansion joints for the chemical industry
One of the most important companies in the manufacturing of chemical products in Spain has awarded SACOME for the design and manufacturing of 8 expansion joints of different diameters for the replacement of existing equipment already damaged.
The expansion joints have been manufactured having one and two layers. The considered model has been our SGO single unrestrained metal expansion joint with dimensions close to 1m diameter.
The INCOLOY® 825 alloy (UNS N08825 / W Nr. 2.4858) is a Nickel-Chromium alloy with additions of Molybdenum, Copper and Titanium. It is designed to provide exceptional resistance to most corrosive environments. The Nickel content is sufficient to resist stress corrosion cracking caused by the chloride ion. Nickel, together with Molybdenum and Copper, provides extraordinary resistance to reduced environments such as those with sulfuric and phosphoric acid contents. Molybdenum also helps to increase resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The chromium content of the INCOLOY 825 confers resistance to a wide variety of oxidizing substances such as nitric acid, nitrates and oxidizing salts. The titanium in turn, with the appropriate thermal treatment, enables stabilization against intergranular corrosion.
Hydraulic deformation of the bellows for a homogeneous distribution
Thanks to our great variety and our long-standing expertise in the manufacturing processes for metal bellows, these are formed by hydraulic deformation, which gives them a more homogeneous distribution of the stresses throughout the wave profile. This ensures that this type of equipment has been working in very corrosive environments, for more than 30 years, absorbing different thermal expansions and with high life cycles in operation.
