SACOME has been commissioned by one of our customers in Northern Europe to design and manufacture a heat exchanger for water cooling of mineral oil. The exchanger has a two-pass tube configuration with removable tube bundle, our model I-TFMP-D-2, and in addition the tube bundle, at the customer’s request, is made with inner tubes without longitudinal welding.
In this equipment, the mineral oil circulates on the jacket side, allowing the heat transfer coefficients to be optimised for such a low conductivity fluid, thanks to the arrangement of the baffles, which force the transverse flow on the jacket side. On the other hand, as this is a fluid that is not totally clarified, it was advisable and also a requirement of the client to be able to dismantle the tubular bundle for cleaning the jacket side, which is why the design chosen is a removable tubular bundle.
