Vegetable oil processing: a field where experience makes the difference.

After more than 40 years of experience, SACOME has built up thousands of references across hundreds of different applications in the food, industrial and pharmaceutical sectors. Within that trajectory, one of its most established areas of work is the design of tubular heat exchangers for vegetable oil processing, a service in which experience is essential to achieve the right solution.

In this type of application, factors such as fouling, exchanger drainability, process velocity and pressure drop limitation all need to be considered carefully. Over the years, SACOME has supplied hundreds of tubular heat exchangers to some of the most recognised companies in the vegetable oil sector, for the processing of palm oil, coconut oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and olive oil, among others. This experience is supported by an extensive database of thermal properties for these products and by a long track record in a sector where, in many projects, end clients specifically request SACOME tubular heat exchangers.

A recent example is the award of a project for the supply of eight tubular heat exchangers for a coconut oil plant. In this case, the process requires different exchanger configurations depending on the service, so the project includes oil-to-oil, oil-to-steam and oil-to-water units.

To meet these requirements, SACOME will manufacture both multitubular exchangers from its I-TFM-I range and multi-pass multitubular exchangers from its I-TFMP-I range.

This project reflects the kind of work SACOME has developed over many years in vegetable oil processing: adapting each exchanger design to the specific duty, the product behaviour and the operating conditions of the plant.
