(HTRI)<\/strong><\/a>since 1998. <strong>HTRI<\/strong> is an internationally renowned organization that, since its creation in 1962, investigate <strong>the phenomena of heat transfer<\/strong> with the aim to develop much more <strong>precise and accurate design methods<\/strong>. Thanks to this collaboration with HTRI, the <strong>SACOME Technical Department<\/strong> have at their disposal <strong>the most advanced calculation tools<\/strong> for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacome.com\/en\/heat-exchangers-thermal-calculation\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heat exchangers calculation<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.21&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2>Heat Exchangers Design Optimization<\/h2>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.21&#8243; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most recent example of this ongoing improvement is the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htri.net\/xchanger-suite-8-now-available\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>HTRI Xchanger Suite v8<\/strong><\/a>, new version with which we can <strong>optimize our designs<\/strong>. Some of the enhancements that this new version incorporates are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.21&#8243; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. Determination of the fouling factor in the cooling water<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the main uncertainties when designing a <strong>shell and tube heat exchanger for a cooling process<\/strong> is the correct estimation of <strong>fouling<\/strong>, associated with the <strong>cooling water channel<\/strong>. The <strong>HTRI <\/strong>software incorporates a new tool that allows to <strong>determine the fouling factor in water<\/strong>, according to its properties, such as:<\/p>\n<li>Acidity.<\/li>\n<li>Alkalinity.<\/li>\n<li>Hardness.<\/li>\n<li>Dissolved solids.<\/li>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.21&#8243; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. New calculation methods for heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops, based on experimental data.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">HTRI has sophisticated pilot plants that allow to parameterize and analyze the <strong>performance of heat exchangers<\/strong>, simulating real operating conditions. Thanks to this information, it is possible to <strong>improve the existing calculation methods<\/strong> for complex processes such as:<\/p>\n<li><strong>Boiling in shellside<\/strong>, when the prevailing mechanism is nucleation, or when it is natural convection instead.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shellside condensation<\/strong>, in particular for low steam fractions, and subcooling of the condensate is expected, or when the process is ruled by gravity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Condensation in tubes<\/strong>, in the different possible regimes:<\/li>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_4&#8243;][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243;][et_pb_image _builder_version=&#8221;3.21&#8243; src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.sacome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Esquema-de-condensacion-en-tubos.png&#8221; alt=&#8221;Condensation in tubes, in the different possible regimes&#8221; title_text=&#8221;Condensation in tubes, in the different possible regimes&#8221; \/][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_4&#8243;][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.21&#8243; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> 3. A new calculation engine allows to reduce the computing time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In those applications having a high number of <strong>heat exchangers in series<\/strong>, multiple iterative calculations are required to be carried out to find the <strong>optimal solution<\/strong> for the system, since the performance of a single module can affect the operation of the rest of <strong>heat exchangers<\/strong>.
